From illustrator to painter

‘Debbie Boon’ is a successful and established illustrator; her acclaim has only been further endorsed with international publishers such as ‘Harper Collins’ ‘Hodder’ and ‘Egmont’ to add to her list of credentials.
Her children’s picture books celebrate her abilities as a creative practitioner, “Texture is in itself paramount to my work” says Debbie ‘The illustrations I produced for children’s picture books
“My Gran”, “Something Wonderful” and “If you go walking in Tiger Woods” were all constitutional in adding texture to a painted image.
Most recently Debbie’s passion for colour and texture has moved her work to another depth, quite literally from the printed page to the wall! Constructing large-scale paintings using similar techniques to those used in her previous illustrative work, in turn generating a unique style of sculptured paintings. Whatever the subject matter; from flora to fauna to still life and portraiture, she pays close attention to detail and all her paintings have a distinctly three-dimensional feel.
She begins each canvas with sculpted relief work and then applies pure pigment, Impasto Acrylics and mixed medium with a palette knife.
Last year alone Debbie’s success included a series of one off commissions for top chef ‘Michael Caines’ for the re-launch of
‘The Royal Clarence Hotel’ in Exeter, a set of three large scale floral canvasses for a contemporary new build in Cambridgeshire and numerous private commissions.
Her reputation within the field of ‘Portraiture’ is already evolving with clients travelling from all over the UK to commission her work.
